Welcome to our model club

My name is Dave Watson and I am the Chairman of the club, our Secretary is Dave Rothwell and Treasurer is called Ian Chanter.

I welcome you to a club who enjoy building models in whatever scale or type you wish to produce. Our aim is to encourage and not criticise a person’s abilities.  We allow everyone 2 FREE meetings to decide if you wish to join our model club. 

The meetings are every two weeks on a Monday evening from 7.30pm until 9.00pm.The meetings run as a discussion evening and the second monthly meeting is a competition evening. A diary/calendar of all meetings and model shows are available on this website and can be found on our Events page.

The competition evening is when anyone can bring along a model and explain its construction, any problems and a little history about the kit. All other members mark the model out of 10. At the end of the evening the scores are given out. The winner scores 5 and then consecutive lower scores for the remainder. At the end of the year the totals are produced by the secretary. 

We pay our subs annually and this is collected by the treasurer in January. We run an annual competition at the end of January which has 10 categories, is marked by all members and trophies are handed out at the next meeting along with a certificate. You can enter as many categories as you wish. 

The club organises an annual show in The Kito Centre at the end of June on the Sunday after Armed Forces Day. We also support model clubs from across the South West by displaying our models at their shows. This is produced as a diary of events and you can volunteer to attend any of the shows.

Our model club is twined with a club in Brittany, France and we support their model show every two years. This again is on a volunteer basis but is for 4 days, travelling by ferry from Plymouth on Thursday/Friday and returning on the Monday.

If you wish to become an IPMS member you are entitled to support the club at Telford on remembrance weekend where we put on a display along with all the other IPMS clubs from across the UK and abroad. Details for this can be obtained from the Chairman.
